Donald Trump calls to ban Muslims from U.S.

Posted

Oshkosh, Wis.- Republican candidate and front-runner Donald Trump making comments that shook the nation.

"Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States," said Trump.

Trump's remarks were quickly denounced by the Republican Party.

"It's not what this party stands for and more importantly it's not what this country stands for," said Republican Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan.

For Muslims at a mosque in Oshkosh, they say it's comments like Trump's that they battle with daily.

"You continue to struggle rather than saying I give you the benefit of the doubt, why don't you give me the benefit of the doubt," said Muslim Community President, Khurram Ahmad.

The biggest uphill battle is getting people to understand terrorist attacks are extremism ideologies, much like the ideas of the Nazi's or the Ku Klux Klan, according to Ahmad.

"Those are extreme ideologies they don't represent the religion of the person," said Ahmad.

Muslims are staying positive however, hoping that by being open about their religion and what it preaches they can show people they're no different from the rest of us.

BUT MUSLIMS ARE STAYING POSITIVE HOPING BY BEING OPEN ABOUT THEIR RELIGION AND WHAT IT PREACHES THEY CAN SHOW PEOPLE... THEY'RE NO  DIFFERENT FROM THE REST OF US.
