A hit and run crash killed a domesticated kangaroo in Shawano County, according to the Sheriff's Office.
On Tuesday, the Sheriff's Office says 69-year-old Shawano man reported that he and his wife were were searching for a domesticated kangaroo that had gone missing from its residence some days earlier.
The man says he spotted the animal Tuesday night on Porter Rd., near the intersection with Valley Rd., in the Town of Waukechon.
As the man was trying to coax the animal close enough to secure it, a late model truck drove by. The man tried waving his arms to get the driver's attention, but the truck passed him by, the driver’s side mirror struck him in the chest and the tires ran over his left foot. The kangaroo was struck and killed.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the man reported that the driver of the truck stopped a short distance down the road, got out of the vehicle, and said, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry”.
The suspect then left the scene, and is described as a woman in her mid-20’s, 5’ 5” to 5’ 7”; with glasses and shoulder length hair.
