Dispatch saves woman after implementing new system

Posted

Emergency medical Dispatching in Sheboygan County had its first save after implementing a new system.

The Medical Priority Dispatch System helped save the life of a 47-year-old woman who was in full cardiac arrest.

The dispatcher instructed the woman's boyfriend how to perform CPR.

When crews arrived on scene they shocked her twice and got her to the hospital.

"Without every process in place I wouldn't be here right now," said Sharon Zielke, the patient who was saved. "I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart that I'm here today and i will see my children have children and get married."

One goal of MPDS is to provide step-by-step instructions for callers and victims while they wait for responders to arrive.

The woman who was saved was released from the hospital with 100 percent cognitive ability intact.
