Digging out after more than a foot of snow

Posted

ASHWAUBENON, Wis.- Mark Baumann spent Tuesday going door to door in his neighborhood.

"Looks like some of the neighbors could use a little bit of help," said Baumann as he snow blows several people's driveways.

Neighbors helping neighbors is a common sight, especially after more than a foot of snow hit the area Monday night.

"This is kind of a wet, heavy, terrible first snow fall," said Baumann.

The wet snow is causing headaches for snow blowers.

"I got to go slower with the snow blower otherwise it clogs up, so I got to do first gear all the way," said George Corkin as he clears his driveway.

As a result of how much snow fell, clean-up is taking twice as long.

"About an hour and a half to two hours and normally it takes less than an hour," explained Ray Wishneski.

For those who didn't have a snow plow, shoveling was a back breaking task.

"This is heavy compared to what usually it's really light," said Bobb Sitka of Ashwaubenon.

Many tackling the snow however, with a plan.

"The wife comes out with the shovel and gets the small stuff and I get the big stuff with the snow blower and it goes okay," said Wishneski.
