Frankie Wood is a waitress at Charlie's Island Cafe in Crivitz, which is a hot spot for hunters in town.
"I'd say 6:00 until 8:00 is just screaming busy," said Wood.
Normally there's a line out the door, but this year things are a little slower since not as many hunters are getting deer early.
"I think it's a lot to do with the weather, a little bit has to do with the snow," said Wood.
Doug Leuman of Suamico is one of the lucky ones. He caught a 6 point buck early Sunday morning.
"He came behind us and came through the woods kind of quick, he was actually looking for does," said Leuman.
Leuman says he saw the buck Saturday already, but couldn't get a clean shot until now.
"We saw him about four times yesterday but with the wind they weren't sticking around, they weren't slow and this morning he came through pretty slow," said Leuman.
To celebrate their kill Leuman and his wife grabbed lunch at the cafe.
"They come in and obviously they're all excited about what they got and we see them on their trucks that they've got their big deer, they all want their bragging rights on stuff so they all come in bragging about what they got," laughs Wood.
Hunters and community members say this time of year is one of their favorites because of all the stories and memories that are shared between people.
