OCONTO--Deadly crashes are up 13% in Wisconsin from 2014. The preliminary total for 2015, 556 deaths.
Sergeant Tim Mcgrath is with the Wisconsin state patrol "Any one death is tragic ... Our goal is zero preventable deaths on Wisconsin highways and that didn't occur." But that doesn't mean 2016 won't be better.
"Distracted driving aggressive driving , driving is an important thing to pay attention to." Says Mcgrath.
16 of those fatalities in Oconto county -- higher than Sheboygan county with 13 and Brown, Outagamie and Fond Du Lac counties each with 12.
Mark Jansen is the department head for the Oconto County. "Out of the 14 there are five related to alcohol" Two accidents are still pending alcohol testing. That high number shows the need for drinking responsibly.
The number of bicyclist fatalities related to motor accidents more than quadrupled this past year from 4 to 15.
