DART identifies officer killed in Dallas Shooting

Dallas, Texas -- We are starting to learn the identities of some of the victims involved in the Dallas shooting. 

One Dallas Area Rapid Transit Officer and four Dallas Police Officers were killed during the attack. 

DART has identified its officer as 43-year-old Officer Brent Thompson. 

Thompson has been with the department since 2009. 

DART says this is their first officer killed in the line of duty since the agency formed in 1989. 

Three other DART officers were shot during the protest and are expected to recover from their injuries. 

They've been identified as 32-year-old Misty McBride, 44-year-old Omar Cannon and 39-year-old Jesus Retana. 

DART released a statement saying, "Our hearts are broken."

The identities of the four deceased Dallas Police Officers have not been released at this time. 

At least one civilian was injured. The civilian has been identified by family as Shetamia Taylor. 

She got shot while shielding her children from gunfire.
