The Crivitz man who tried to hire a hit man to kill his son and daughter-in-law died in prison Thursday.
Inmate Robert Dettmering, who was confined at Dodge Correctional Institution, died the evening of June 29, according to a Department of Corrections spokesperson.
The DOC has begun an internal investigation and contacted the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, which is standard procedure following an inmate death. The DOC is not confirming the cause of death.
Dettmering, 76, was sentenced in March to 22 years in prison after he pled no contest to a charge of conspiracy to commit first-degree intentional homicide. Prosecutors said it was all over a land dispute.
