When tourists come to Wisconsin, you can bet that many of them are headed to Door County. However Wisconsin has so many areas for tourists of all types.
Last winter was nothing impressive in terms of snow amounts for the area, especially Crivitz. It's usually one of the snowiest places in northern Wisconsin and relies on winter tourists to come for snowmobiling and ice fishing and other winter activities.
This year, resorts hope a good showing of summer tourists will help make up for a lackluster winter.
At Popp's Resort, owner Leon Popp is constantly thinking about how to keep things interesting at the resort, a place open since 1926.
After being in the business that long, he says it's important to continue to keep the resort fresh with fun. This year he says ATV enthusiasts will be excited for the hundreds of miles of trails in Crivitz. There are 200 miles accessible from Popp's Resort alone. Popp says he noticed a pick up in business starting last Thursday, the beginning of a long Memorial Day weekend. Now he, along with other businesses that look to tourists, hope Crivitz isn't overlooked when vacation planning begins.
The Crivitz Business Association welcomes and encourages new business as well.
