There's one good thing about the cold weather -- the Green Bay Parks and Recreation Department is starting to flood outdoor ice rinks.
Parks Crews are filling more than twenty rinks across the city this week.
It's a process that takes longer than you might think.
"If you do too much water at one time, then you're going to end up with what we call stinky rink, the bubbling of the rink,” said Patrick Baye, Green Bay Recreation Supervisor. “It's really important that you take your time; get a solid ice surface that's really smooth and safe for the patrons."
And new this year -- you can rent skates at the outdoor rinks at Perkins Park.
Baye said he thinks the rinks will be ready by the middle of next week.
