TOWN OF CHARLESTOWN, Wis—A barn and a storage shed are completely destroyed after a fire early Tuesday morning.
It happened around 1:30 a.m. on the 4300 block of Weeks Road, near Chilton.
The barn housed 50-60 heads of cattle.
Officials say all of the cows got out safely, but there were challenges battling the fire.
"The wind was phenomenal. It blew the fire from one building to the next building that started the barn. Then you had the spray streams didn't go where you wanted them to because of the wind. You had the mud. The guys were in knee deep mud. It was a mess.," said Chilton Fire Chief Gary Halbach.
As of 5:15 a.m. on Tuesday about 10 cows were still missing.
The cause is unknown at this time.
