A crash involving five semi-trucks and 12 passenger vehicles closed all lanes of I-43 northbound at WIS 23 near Kohler for nearly two hours Monday, according to State Patrol.
The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. near the Pigeon River structure. A semi was preparing to exit the interstate when the driver realized it couldn't stop in time, according to State Patrol.
"There were a couple semis crashed up this morning when I was headed south and believe me, that's not an easy job to stop a semi when you're on ice," said semi truck driver Kirk Joachim. "It's the slipperiest country I've been on, it had to be the lake effect [snow]."
Four people were hurt in the wreck, and three were brought to the hospital with non-serious injuries, State Patrol said.
