A small group of Fox Valley friends has pledged to meet the winter clothing needs of local elementary school children.
The group says no child should be at risk from the elements traveling to and from school, or find themselves not being able to play in the snow at recess. However, many are without needed winter clothing and are limited in their ability to enjoy winter activities.
Cozy Kids organizers will interact with school staff in the district to assess need on an individual basis, and then work with area retailers to purchase and deliver the needed clothing directly to the recipients. They hope to provide coats, boots, gloves, hats, snow- pants and more to these children.
The group's goal is $5,000 this first year, but organizers say the need exceeds that amount. They estimate an average of $60 per child will be needed. All proceeds will be used to purchase clothing.
Those who'd like to donate can make a check payable to “Cozy Kids” and mail or drop it off at any Fox Communities Credit Union location.
