MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A Wisconsin appeals court has put on hold a Dane County circuit judge's ruling striking down the state's right-to-work law.
The court late Tuesday granted the emergency stay request made in April by Attorney General Brad Schimel.
The Republican Schimel argued that the ruling striking down the Republican-authored law signed by Gov. Scott Walker has created confusion and should be put on hold while an appeal is pending.
The 3rd District Court of Appeals, in an order written by Judge P.J. Stark, said the conclusion that unions would be harmed if the ruling were put on hold was not substantiated by the facts.
Right-to-work laws prohibit businesses and unions from reaching agreements that require all workers, not just union members, to pay union dues.
