MADISON (NBC 26) -- Wisconsin has once again set a grim milestone in reporting coronavirus numbers in the state.

On Tuesday, Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) reported 107 deaths related to COVID-19, a new record number of deaths reported in a single day. The previous record was 104 on Nov. 24.

DHS reminded the public Tuesday that the number reflects the date the death was reported to public health, and not the date of death. As data fluctuates from day to day, the public is encouraged to monitor overall trends.

Wisconsin also reported 4,078 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the state's total number of confirmed cases to 391,313. There are 68,407 active cases in the state.

DHS says the percentage of recovered cases is at 82%
