Wisconsin reports over 4,000 people have died from COVID-19

WISCONSIN (NBC 26) — Wisconsin health officials reported 50 more deaths in relation to COVID-19 for a total of 4,041 people to have died from the virus as of Saturday's numbers.

Health officials said 4,059 people tested positive out of 13,642 COVID-19 tests processed Saturday.

According to the state Department of Health Services (DHS), the seven-day average for positive cases by person continues a slow downward trend to 28.0% as of Friday's numbers. This percentage only includes each person once across the duration of the pandemic, no matter how many times an individual gets tested.

The DHS said approximately 50,264 cases are still considered active in Wisconsin. About 375,627 people in the state have since recovered from the virus.

Hospitalizations increased by 142 for a total of 19,162 people ever hospitalized with the virus.
