The Wisconsin Department of Health Services said 3,831 out of just over 9,500 COVID-19 tests returned positive Sunday afternoon.
Health officials reported the average seven day percentage of positive tests by person sharply rose to 28.7% as of Saturday's numbers. The percentage increase comes after a steady decline since November 13. This percentage only includes each person once across the duration of the pandemic no matter how many times they are tested for the virus.
The DHS estimated almost 69,900 cases are still active across the state. Staff said 81% of people who tested positive for coronavirus, which is 311,438 people, have since recovered.
Another 22 deaths were reported, for a total of 3,307 people in Wisconsin to have died in relation to COVID-19.
Hospitalizations increased by 117, bringing the state total to just under 17,000 people to ever be hospitalized with the virus.
