Wisconsin reports 1,681 new COVID-19 cases, 42 deaths

WISCONSIN (NBC 26) — Health officials reported 1,681 out of almost 7,500 COVID-19 tests came back positive Saturday.

According to the state Department of Health Services (DHS), the seven-day average for positive cases by person is 21.2% as of Friday's numbers, continuing the downward trend from about two weeks ago. This percentage only includes each person once across the duration of the pandemic, no matter how many times an individual gets tested.

Another 42 deaths were recorded, for a total of 5,685 people in Wisconsin to have died in relation to the virus.

The DHS said there are approximately 23,414 active cases across the state. This is a decrease of 269 cases since the previous day's report.

Hospitalizations increased by 89, bringing the state total to 23,625 people to ever be hospitalized with the virus.
