MISHICOT (NBC 26) -- The School District of Mishicot announced Monday it will transition the high school and middle school to virtual instruction due to COVID-19.

The school district said there is an increase in positive COVID-19 cases and the number of students and staff needing to be quarantined.

School officials plan to return to face-to-face instruction on Monday, October 19, but factors such as community spread and local hospitalization rates will influence the District’s decision to either reopen or to extend virtual instruction.

All extracurricular events during this time are canceled. There will be no school Tuesday, and virtual instruction will begin Wednesday for the high school and middle school.

OHS Elementary School will continue as scheduled with precautionary measures, such as not allowing children to attend school if they are displaying symptoms or taking any medication that reduces symptoms. The school district said if you or any family member tests positive/negative or in close contact with someone who does test positive this information MUST be provided to your child's school.

Multiple school districts in Northeast Wisconsin have switched to virtual learning due to concerns regarding COVID-19.
