OUTAGAMIE COUNTY (NBC 26) -- Outagamie County Public Health (OCPH) is confirming the first Outagamie County death associated with COVID-19.
County health officials confirmed the death in a news release sent out Friday. Officials didn't release any other details about the person who died.
“We are saddened by the loss of a community member, and we extend our heartfelt sympathies to their loved ones and friends," said OCPH Officer Mary Dorn.
Slowing the spread of COVID-19 is necessary to prevent health care systems from becoming overwhelmed and protect those most at risk of more serious illness and death, health officials said. Those most at risk include individuals with chronic health conditions like heart disease, lung disease, diabetes and/or advanced age.
Limiting the spread will also help first responders and hospitals to preserve the limited supply of personal protective equipment.
