MADISON (NBC 26) — As Wisconsin approaches Christmas, state health officials report 60 more deaths related to COVID-19.

The latest numbers from the state Department of Health Services show Wisconsin's coronavirus death total is now at 4,674.

Wisconsin reported 2,799 new cases of COVID-19 on Christmas Eve, with the seven-day average at 2,564. While Thursday's number of daily new cases was slightly higher than the day prior, the overall trend of newly reported cases has continued downward since November.

Still, the daily positive rate remains high; it was around 26% on Thursday.

While new cases are trending downward, the percentage of people recovering from coronavirus in Wisconsin continues to climb, sitting at 92% on Thursday.
