More than 500,000 people in Wisconsin have recovered from COVID-19

MADISON (NBC 26) — More than 500,000 people in Wisconsin have recovered from COVID-19 since the pandemic began in the state, according to new numbers released Friday by the state Department of Health Services(DHS).

At the same time, DHS reported more than 2,000 new positive cases of coronavirus in the state Friday, bringing the total number of cases to 530,171.

DHS also reported 36 new deaths related to the virus, bringing the death total to 5,643. The number of people ever hospitalized in Wisconsin due to the virus rose to 23,536 - an increase of 91.

More than 310,000 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the state as of Friday afternoon.
