FOX VALLEY (NBC 26) -- A woman from the Fox Valley has been experiencing COVID-19 symptoms for several weeks, and only just recently did she receive her test results.

"The woman called and said you're results are negative. Oh I mean positive" said Christi Iversen, who now has a confirmed case of coronavirus. "The fatigue has been immense. I literally could not leave my bed without getting tired."

She recently got tested at the community testing site in Oshkosh. She was tested on September 14, but didn't here her results till the 21st. The Department of Health Services did say it can take up to seven business days to get results.

Although Iversen's results did fall in that window, her symptoms only got worse after she was tested. She says she did not have any guidance from the county on what to do.

"I had no idea what symptoms to monitor, when to go to the hospital, or when I could leave isolation," she said.

To make matters more difficult, Iversen says her results were completed on the 16th - five days before someone called with the results.

"The form from the lab said it was completed the 16th, and no one told me." She said.

According to the Outagamie County Health Department, results have become harder to report due to the recent spike in cases.

"We have had around 115 new cases each day in the last week in the county," said Mary Dorn, with the health department. "Our department is stretched thin. Everyone is working on COVID."

Dorn says the best way to get through this is follow the safety precautions. She says the more people getting infected leads to more tests, which leads to a more difficult time processing the tests - resulting in long wait times for people like Iversen.
