Gov. Evers has rejected any claims that he plans to shutdown in-person classes across state, he told TMJ4 News.
During an interview on Monday, the governor said that there is "no secret plan" for him to prohibit schools from opening the fall.
He said his statewide mask mandate was to help curb the spread of the coronavirus; however, shutting down schools he said is much more difficult. Large school districts have different problems smaller ones don't have - mainly class size.
For small districts with lower enrollments, they can social distance relatively easily. However, Gov. Evers' said for larger districts that have packed classrooms, social distancing isn't as easy.
While Evers said that teachers are asking the governor to weigh in on the issue, he isn't planning on implementing a statewide school ordinance.
