BROWN COUNTY (NBC 26) -- A jail employee has tested positive for coronavirus, the Brown County Sheriff's Office announced Monday.
The Sheriff's Office said the employee is a jail correctional officer who uses proper personal protective equipment while in contact with other employees and inmates. Authorities learned about the positive test result on Saturday.
While working with the Public Health Department, the Brown County Sheriff's Office said it reviewed who came in contact with the employee. As a result of the review, one additional employee has been identified as having potentially high exposure. That employee is being quarantined and was tested, but the test results are not known at this time.
The correctional officer who tested positive for COVID-19 also has a household contact who is a deputy with the Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff's Office said that deputy has also been quarantined and tested, with test results pending.
The Sheriff's Office also said three more deputies had close contact with the household contact deputy. Those deputies have also been tested and quarantined. Their test results are also pending.
The four deputies do not work within the jail. It is anticipated that the test results will be received within the next 48 hours, the Sheriff's Office said.
All other contacts with these people have been deemed a low risk by the health department. The Sheriff's Office said it's monitoring both jail staff and inmates for symptoms.
