GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- 126 new positive coronavirus tests were reported at the Green Bay Correctional Institution, according to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (DOC).

The testing was conducted earlier this week and the results were returned Friday. 200 tests returned a negative result. The DOC said the total number of positive cases at the institution is now 185 with roughly 500 test results outstanding.

This update comes after state officials had previously reported 57 people at the prison tested positive for the coronavirus.

There are also 13 active cases among staff at Green Bay Correctional, according to the DOC.

Green Bay prison staff have been required to wear masks, except while eating or drinking or while alone in an office, DOC said. Inmates are required to wear masks in common spaces.

DOC policy calls for persons under DOC care to be tested at intake, transfer, or release, according to a DOC spokesperson.

The only other major outbreak DOC has reported in a Wisconsin prison was at the Waupun Correctional Institution in May and early June, when there were 228 positive COVID-19 cases among prisoners. All since recovered from the virus.

No persons under DOC's care have died from COVID-19, according to a DOC spokesperson. As of Friday afternoon, DOC has had 534 COVID-19 cases among persons under DOC care.

No Wisconsin county has had that many cases with no COVID-19 deaths. The county with the most cases but no deaths is Portage County, with 497 cases and no deaths, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
