The contractor who struck a gas line in downtown Sun Prairie, causing a deadly explosion, was not registered to do business in the State of Wisconsin.
Workers with a Michigan company called VC Tech were installing fiber optic cable when the explosion happened last week.
Sun Prairie Fire Captain Cory Barr was the one person killed in the blast. Several others were also hurt, as several buildings were destroyed.
Investigators say they are still considering criminal charges against the contractor involved.
