Construction workers shut the gates at Erb Park Pool in Appleton Monday.
They began clearing equipment as a part of the year long renovation project. For Kabel Helmbrecht, a City of Appleton Recreation Programmer, the work is long overdue. He says they're getting everything out of the pool while saving equipment like heaters and filtration systems for use in Mead Pool.
Erb Park Pool is 39-years-old and has multiple leaks. Leaders are hopeful that the project will be completed by July 2017.
