An account has been set up to help the Hollar family be able to afford to rent a new home.

The account has been set up at BMO Harris Bank in Denmark, but if you would like to donate you can do that at any BMO Harris bank. You can donate by giving these four numbers "4868" and telling the bank you would like to help the Hollars.

A woman and her five children are forced from their home because of subzero temperatures.

The family says they've been calling the landlords of the home since November asking for something to be done.

Now that temperatures have dropped below zero and the home couldn't be kept warmer than roughly 50 degrees, the family had no choice but to search for someplace warmer to stay.

"The heater was never replaced, never fixed and when they did have somebody come and look at it and realized the heater was blown they refused to pay for it, they were unable to afford it they said," said Jenny Hollar, who rents the home. The landlords declined to comment on the issue.

This week was the breaking point for Hollar and her family.

"My children were threatened to be removed by Child Protective Services last night they were going to be there by 6:00 to check my home," explained Hollar.

The community of Denmark refused to let that happen.

"We had to do something," said Sandy Little who runs the Denmark Helping Denmark Facebook page.

Within hours an apartment complex offered the Hollars a warm place to stay.

"She said we can put them up in the community room to get them warm," said Little.

Now the Hollars are sleeping on air mattresses and cots, but they're warm and the community isn't stopping there.

The Denmark Schools superintendent, Tony Klaubauf, sent a plea for help to the parents in the district.

"You just think about those kids sleeping and trying to sleep in 48-50 degrees," said Klaubauf.

Within minutes calls and emails flooded his office.

"I was actually overwhelmed with the response of not really knowing because this is not typically my job," said Klaubauf.

Hollar says she's eternally grateful for the support she and children have received.

"It's amazing and I just can't thank anybody enough," said Hollar.

NBC26 did reach out to the landlords of the property Tuesday afternoon, they both refused to speak with us for this story.
