Parts of the Fox River State Recreational Trail will be closed intermittently during a construction project.

Starting August 6th, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will begin blasting and painting the steel girders under the WIS 172 bridge.

This project is expected to last 2-years and intermittent trail closures will occur where WIS 172 crosses over the Fox River State Recreational Trail in the Village of Allouez.

Transportation officials say trail users should use caution in the area as construction traffic will be crossing frequently and an uneven trail surface may exist.

The $7.8 million project is expected to finish in November of 2019. There will not be construction work during the winter months.
