A donation from Wednesday will help bring comfort to kids in crisis.
Children in the Heart of the Valley YMCA summer school program created what are called buddy bags. They have reading and coloring books, crayons and a stuffed toy inside.
The children presented them to the Kaukauna Police Department. Officers will keep the bags in their squad cars and give them to children when responding to emergencies.
"We actually approached Fox Valley Metro in 2015 and learned a lot about kids in crisis and what happens and how officers struggle to bridge that gap between fear and safety for young children," said Sharon Johnson, Exec. Director of Valley YMCA.
The YMCA started the program two years ago with Fox Valley Metro Police. They gave way 120 bags in that time.
