Steil is a former Paul Ryan aide. He won Ryan's endorsement in June.
Ryan has represented the southeast Wisconsin District for 20 years.
Both Steil and Bryce focused on employment and economic growth during their campaigns. Steil favored a policy to drive wages higher by putting in place competitive structures that allow companies to hire the best people and produce the best products in southeast Wisconsin.
Further, Steil said in an interview that he supports Gov. Walker's tuition freeze, but he is not a fan of free tuition.
Steil served on the UW Board of Regents for two and a half years after being appointed by Gov. Walker.
President Trump tweeted support for Steil after his primary win in August.
