Brown County officials declare September, "Recovery Month”. It's part of a nationwide initiative to increase understanding of substance abuse and mental health issues.
County leaders, health experts, and former addicts gathered at the Brown County Circuit Court on Friday to discuss prevention treatment and recovery support services.
"We're talking about it. We're saying it's okay to talk about it. It's important that people talk to people. It could be friends, relatives, people they trust, about how they're feeling and what they might need," says Eric Pritzl, the Brown County Executive of Health and Human Services.
Officials say they are seeing great success in their programs and celebrated the people who completed them. Brown County is also organizing more events this month to get the public involved.
