Posted

Brown County Sheriff's deputies say they recently made 19 arrests and sent messages to 409 people seeking to pay for sex.

As part of this operation, agencies involved also arrested 19 people who were trying to purchase sex within the county.

Some of those were with people trying to find sex with underage females.

The county also made an arrest related to human trafficking.

Leaders of this operation say that they hope this can be another step in their goal to deter people from trying to pay for sex.

"It is still there, and that's one of the reasons we're trying other things as well - to make people aware of the long term impact to the victims of this type of crime," Chief Deputy Todd Delain said.

Deputies say those victims can have serious long-term harm..and can continue a cycle of human trafficking.

Deputies also said today Tthat the people trying to purchase sex can become victims themselves through fraud, theft, or abuse.
