At 1:15 a.m. Friday, agents from the US Border Patrol conducted a traffic stop in Malone, New York on a vehicle suspected to be involved in possible criminal activity.
Border Patrol agents identified a passenger in the vehicle as Manish Patel, 43. Patel possessed a fraudulent passport that had expired in December 2016.
Agents took Patel and the driver of the vehicle to the Border Patrol office where they were asked to be fingerprinted. Patel told the agents he was not who his travel documents indicated, and then provided correct information.
Agents completed a records check and found Patel was wanted by Outagamie County for several felony charges including homicide of an unborn child.
Patel is being held in New York for possible federal immigration charges. The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department is working with the US Border Patrol and US Marshal’s Service.
