The Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office says they were called to a possible explosion in the Village of Waldo on Saturday.
Deputies immediately saw front porch windows blown out of the home on Second Street, and the homeowner, who was not injured, cleaning up glass.
Further investigation revealed evidence of materials used to make explosives and fireworks.
Soon the Milwaukee County Sheriff's bomb squad was called in to assist with the investigation and determined that the home be secured until Sunday when a more thorough investigation could be conducted in the daylight. However, the squad maintained that there was no immediate danger to any neighboring residents.
An investigation continued today in Waldo, with the Sheboygan Sheriff's Office, Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputies, as well as the bomb squad, Waldo Fire Department, Orange Cross Ambulance, ATF, 54th Civil Support Team and the Emergency Government Director.
As the bomb squad conducted an initial search, it was recommended that the neighboring residents be evacuated.
A large amount of firework making material was found as well as other unidentified chemicals.
Veolia North America was also contacted to asisst in the disposal of some chemicals.
The homeowner says the explosion was caused by a welding accident. He was taken into custody on parole violations.
It is unknown if more charges will be requested by the Sheriff's Office.
