A new bill was introduced by David Steffen of Howard, would create hate crime protections for law enforcement officers. His "Blue lives matter" bill would expand the states definition of a hate crime to include law enforcement officers. Additional fines and imprisonment could be triggered if officers are targeted because of their profession.
A new bill would add law enforcement as a protected class for hate crimes.
