MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Former Democratic state Rep. Penny Bernard Schaber has added her name to a growing list of possible candidates for Wisconsin's 8th Congressional District.
Republican U.S. Rep. Reid Ribble's unexpected announcement over the weekend that he won't seek a fourth term has sparked a flood of interest in the district, which centers on Green Bay.
Schaber joins Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson in the field of Democrats publicly considering a bid. Outagamie County Democratic Party Chair Dottie LeClair says numerous others are talking about it.
On the Republican side, legislators actively pondering a bid include state Sen. Frank Lasee of De Pere, state Sen. Roger Roth of Appleton, and state Reps. John Nygren of Marinette and David Steffen of Green Bay.
