BELLEVUE, WI -- Crews battled a house fire in Brown County early Friday morning.
The call came in around 5:50 a.m. on Essen Road in Bellevue.
Fire officials say the resident of the home called in the fire after seeing heavy smoke coming from the vents.
Crews had Essen Road blocked off between Ontario Road and Emerald Drive.
Fire officials say one woman was able to escape safely.
Officials say the fire was confined to a furnace in the basement but there is some smoke damage.
The fire remains under investigation.
Firefighters are reminding folks to routinely check their furnace.
