A celebration of our heroes in uniform is also raising awareness about high suicide rates among veterans.
It's called "Bash for the Brave," and it brought dozens of people out to the Office Sports Bar in Kaukana, Saturday.
Event coordinators say one in five suicides in Wisconsin is a veteran.
Along with that, they say more police officers, firefighters, and EMT's die by suicide than in the line of duty.
Today's event is a way to say "thank you for your service."
"I had a friend who took his life also. It hit me really hard," says Marine Corps Veteran Sandy Pharis, "and every veteran that attempts suicide... it's very important for us to reach out to them."
