DE PERE (WGBA) -- Two school districts in the City of De Pere remain divided as coronavirus cases rise in Wisconsin. However, that could change soon.

De Pere Unified is meeting Monday evening to discuss a potential plan to return to school. If certain measures pass, student's could return to class as soon as the Monday after Thanksgiving. However, this move is being bet with a strong debate.

"I want my kids to go back," said Carrie Condon, a De Pere Unified parent. "It is just not safe right now to do so."

At West De Pere, they are back in school. On Monday, the board voted to approve hiring more staff to help expand resources for in-person learning. While one is back in school, the other still decides it's future.

The CDC lists recommended positive case rate for local infections be around 10% or less. In Brown County, it is currently at 40%

But some at the meeting, think it is time to go back.

"This home learning is not working," said Joel Neuville, another De Pere unified Parent. "I know the teachers are doing the best they can, but it is not the best option for our kids."
