A Little Chute woman said she was touring the area near the Manchester, England terrorist attack just one day before the incident.

Megan Kerkhoff learned of the attack as she was on her way home to Wisconsin; she was in England to visit her fiancé.

“I know we're lucky, we could have just as easily been [in the area of the attack] when it happened,” Kerkhoff said.

Kerkhoff, who has visited Manchester before, calls it her favorite city in England.  With a Union Jack flag pin on her purse, she plans to return despite the attack.

The bombing outside American pop star Ariana Grande’s concert killed 22 people, including an eight-year-old girl.  Dozens of other victims were injured.

Had Kerkhoff’s three-year-old daughter been older, Kerkhoff could have been affected even more by the attack.

"I thought, you know, 'If my daughter were 13 or 14, and wanted to go to a concert, it could have just as easily been us there,’” Kerkhoff said.

“As a parent, there's no words for how heart-wrenching that is, and scary."

Manchester is to her fiancé, what Green Bay is to her, Kerkhoff said.  It is the hub of activity in the region, and the center of attention.

Her fiancé is still grappling with the incident, which has not yet sunk in for him, she said.
