The Sheboygan Police Department says they have recovered a body from the Sheboygan River near the boardwalk.
They say someone was out for a walk Sunday morning when they spotted the body and called the police department around 8:30.
The police department says they have recovered the body and the Medical Examiner has been notified. All they could say right now is that the person recovered is a white male. They say that man has been identified, but his identity is being withheld pending notification of family.
According to deputies with the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Department, dive crews were on scene about two hours working to recover that body.
Investigators say there does not appear to be anything suspicious regarding the man's cause of death and they don't believe there is any danger to the community.
Neighbors in Sheboygan using the boardwalk Sunday say they're shocked by the news.
"It seems to be that people.. being by the lake seem to have a pretty good understanding of the dangers of the water," says Amanda Mondloch, of Hingham, out walking her dog with a friend. "With the weather being so warm, it's not like we have a lot of ice, or ice fishing, or anything like that. So, from my knowledge, you don't hear it very often in this area we have bodies in the water."
