Ashwaubenon Public Safety responded to a fire at Orchard Ridge Apartments on Willard Dr. Saturday morning. Firefighters say heavy smoke was coming from an apartment on arrival. The complex was evacuated and no one was injured.
Fire crews located the fire in the basement of an apartment. The residence sustaining heavy smoke damage. The woman and her daughter who lived in the apartment are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
The Brown County Fire Investigation Task Force has determined the cause of the fire was an unattended candle in the basement and has been ruled accidental.
Residents in the 7 other apartments were able to return to their apartments. The damage is estimated at $30,000.
