Arrest made in Manitowoc north side burglaries

Posted

Manitowoc police have arrested the man they believe is responsible for five burglaries on Manitowoc's north side.

A resident on the 900 block of N. 16th Street called police about a man acting suspiciously in the neighborhood Friday just before noon, police said. She was able to provide an accurate description of the person for police.

Officers eventually located him walking in the 1500 block of Michigan Ave, and identified him as the 21-year-old burglary suspect.

The man, from Manitowoc, was identified as a possible suspect before. He also had a warrant for his arrest for failing to return to the Manitowoc County Jail in early March, after he had been given Huber work release privileges, police said.

The man was brought to the Manitowoc Police Department where he admitted to all five burglaries when questioned, according to Manitowoc Police.

He is being held at the Manitowoc County Jail on these burglary charges.

NBC26 is choosing not to name the man until he's been formally charged.

The Manitowoc Police Department would like to thank the citizen who called in today and to all citizens on the north side who have called in suspicious incidents in the past two weeks. The partnership between the citizens and the Police is crucial in keeping our city safe and the Manitowoc Police Department appreciates all tips received from alert citizens.
