Police: Speed appears to be factor in fatal crash in Appleton

Appleton Police along with the Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating a fatal single vehicle crash in Appleton.

Crews were called to the 2900 block of South Eisenhower Drive for the report of an overturned SUV just after 11 p.m. Tuesday night.

Officers say the vehicle had extensive damage. The 56 year old Grand Chute man, who was the driver of the vehicle, was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

An initial investigation shows the SUV was traveling northbound on South Eisenhower Drive before leaving the roadway and overturning. Police say speed appears to have been a factor in the crash.
