The Appleton Police Department took a 23-year-old Appleton man into custody Saturday for terrorist threats.
The man admitted to sending an electronic message to the FBI stating he would, “shoot up the school." He did not specify a school.
A search warrant was executed at the man's residence. In addition to numerous electronic devices, Appleton police took four rifles from the residence. The rifles and ammunition were typical of hunting rifles and amount of ammunition found in many residences in Wisconsin. Investigators said the man sent more than 600 electronic messages to the FBI site during the past two months.
The man is scheduled for an initial appearance Monday afternoon.
