APPLETON, WI -- Fire crews battled a garage fire in Appleton into the early morning hours Wednesday.
It started around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on the 1700 block of South Jackson Street.
Officials say the homeowners were home when the fire broke out and alerted fire crews.
"When we arrived on scene, the front of the garage was completely engulfed in fire. We took out the hoses and put it out," said Lieutenant Chad Rucynski with the Appleton Fire Department.
Fire officials say the bulk of the damage was to the exterior of the garage.
Damage estimates are coming in at around $5,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
