Wisconsin billionaire hopefuls only have a few hours to go for a chance at the biggest jackpot in history. Locally business owners are using a new trick to get noticed during the Powerball frenzy.
Call it smart, call it generous, call it whatever you want, businesses in northeast Wisconsin are capitalizing on the Powerball payout.
At Darboy Stone and Brick in Appleton they've decided to purchase a Powerball ticket and let anyone get in on the action. All you have to do is go to their Facebook page before 9:00 tonight and like their page, like their post and then share it. In turn if that ticket wins you'll get an equal cut of the jackpot. So far 25-thousand people have joined in and nearly 1 million others have viewed their page.
"It's a little overwhelming right now with the response we've been getting," says Tarah Eslinger a Customer Service representative at Darboy Stone and Brick.
"If we do happen to win, it would be great to share this prize with our customers that have helped us keep running for the last 50 years," adds Justin Konitzer a sales representative at Darboy Stone and Brick.
Yesterday the business had about 14-hundred friends on Facebook but as of Wednesday afternoon they have 21-thousand.
If that ticket were to win it's estimated everyone would get about 20 to 25 thousand dollars. But how would they make sure all of their new Facebook friends get their cut? Store representatives tell NBC26 they would likely hire a lawyer to handle that end of it. Tonight live at 10 on NBC26 we'll have the winning Powerball numbers for you.
