AMVETS Post 99 is kicking off a major fundraiser Saturday.
They hope to raise $700,000 for a new building and grounds to service current military and veterans in Manitowoc County.
Their current facility is in a 150-year-old school building.
Leaders say they hope a new building will be a welcome sight for veterans and the community.
"Right now we put out flyers and stuff to different places to see if they could come here, have an open house today, see what the old place is like then take them down, show them what the property is going to be that we're building," Post Commander Dennis Scherer said.
AMVETS leaders say part of their goal is to make this new building more accessible for the county's older veterans.
